Summer things to do in the Smoky Mountain National Park

Did you know the Smoky Mountain National Parks has many intresting and free events each summer in the park? 

One Example is a Hike to Alum Cave Bluff with a ranger.




Learn about the Geology, old-growth trees, and panoramic views await you while joining a park ranger on one of the most diverse hikes in the smokies. More and the best part it is free!

I would say there is a different event every day of the week.  How about a Cades Cove Night Hike.  Listen to the spirits of Cades Cove while enjoying a night-time walk in the cove.  More  That is different!

Another neat one; A Waterfall by Lantern Light See Cataract Falls in a new way—on a lantern-lit night stroll through the old Forks of the River community. More

Thre are many more ideas.  What perfect way to take a vacation in the smokies and enjoy nature only minutes from Berry Springs Lodge.

Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival Near Berry Springs Lodge

Fine_Arts_Festival_large_lgCombine fine art, a gorgeous mountain backdrop, diversity in creativity from across the nation, a national renowned school of arts and crafts, and what do you have?

That would be the Eighth Annual Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival at Arrrowmont, set Labor Day weekend, 2012, at the base of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, showcasing artists at the top of their fields.  Participating exhibitors are chosen by jury in 16 categories ranging from ceramics and glass to watercolor and woodworking; $10,000 in prizes and purchase vouchers is at stake.  For artists, the festival is a prestige event. For visitors, it’s a guaranteed opportunity to enjoy the best in fine art, a fantastic free children activity program, listening to music, and gaze at the nearby mountains.  

The 2012 three-day fair will be headquartered on the grounds of Arrowmont Scholl of Arts and Crafts and is scheduled August 31 through September 2, 2012, with attendees of the free event able to mingle with their favorite artists and view an outstanding array of their creations.

Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair

Art, crafts and music lovers can find 150-plus booths featuring some of the nation's finest work. Artisans and craftspeople are on hand to demonstrate their skills, answer questions and offer their unique art for sale. Live Country & Bluegrass entertainment.
