New Years Eve Ball Drop for 2015 Gatlinburg

 
New Year's Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Show

 Gatlinburg will welcome the arrival of 2015 in unique style with its 27th Annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Show around the intersection of Parkway and Historic Nature Trail at the base of the Space Needle late Wednesday night, December 31.



At the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2015, fireworks will blast off the rooftop of the 400-foot tall Space Needle with special music choreographed for the fireworks show produced by Pyro-Shows of Lafayette, Tennessee. The Space Needle has added rhythmic LED lights to the tower, making for a spectacular display.

2014 Gatlinburg's Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade

The City of Gatlinburg invites you to bundle up and generate a spirited dose of holiday cheer and soak up Gatlinburg’s 39th annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade at 7:30 p.m.

Gatlinburg’s 39th Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade travels through downtown Gatlinburg on Friday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m. to the cheers of more than 80,000 spectators.

Over 100 parade entries, over a dozen marching bands from Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Alabama, and giant balloons will take to the streets of downtown Gatlinburg.


Gatlinburg Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade earned the IFEA / Haas & Wilkerson Grand Pinnacle Award for excellence in events production in 2013 and 2009. 

The parade begins at Traffic Light #1A on Hwy 321 at 7:30 p.m. and ends about an hour-and-a-half later at Traffic Light #10.


Jamming sidewalks and balconies along the parade route, a large crowd will be able to soak up the illuminating glow of Gatlinburg Winter Magic, the City of Gatlinburg’s popular holiday lights program which has received a $1.6 million injection of new displays plus a 100-percent conversion to energy-efficient LED bulbs over the past few years.

 Unique handcrafted gifts made by members of Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community are offered as they host their annual Christmas show at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. 

The Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community is the nation's largest organization of independent artisans makes its home in Gatlinburg and the 8-mile Arts and Crafts Loop along Route 321, Buckhorn Road and Glades Road. 



The Tennessee artists and craftspeople here create beautiful and useful things with techniques handed down for centuries. Find gorgeous quilts, old-fashioned straw brooms with hand carved handles, exquisitely woven baskets, hand-dipped scented candles, Victorian ceramic pitchers, pottery, dulcimers, stuffed bears and leather vests.

Gatlinburg Nutcraker "Sweet" Production

Presented by the Great Smoky Mountain Dance Theatre, enjoy this holiday classic presented in Gatlinburg, with performances at 7 p.m. in the W.L. Mills Auditorium.


The holiday season is in full swing, and Gatlinburg has plenty of events for you to attend to join in on the spirit. During Thanksgiving weekend performers of all ages welcome people of all ages to the Great Smoky Mountain Dance Theatre’s performance of the Nutcracker “Sweet”.



If you’re not familiar with the story of the Nutcracker ballet, it is based on a story written by E.T.A. Hoffman. It is about the magic of Christmas and a young girl’s dream of a Nutcracker Prince and a battle against a Mouse King coming to life. The music and choreography is incredibly enchanting. It’s definitely an experience you won’t forget, and it’s great for the whole family!

Pigeon Forge Salute to our Veterns Parade & 25th Annual Winterfest Kick-off

Join us for our 25th Annual Winterfest Kickoff, immediately following the Salute to Veterans Parade at 4:30 p.m.

Kickoff festivities are free and will begin around 5 p.m. The traditional lighting of more than five million sparkling lights on our Winterfest displays will highlight the evening.

Following the lighting ceremony, get in line for the free Trolley Tour of Lights, offered at no charge for one night only, as part of the Kickoff activities.
The ceremony will take place at the intersection of River Road and Old Mill Avenue. The location is the bridge near Old Mill Restaurant, which is the site of one of the city’s newest and largest Winterfest light displays.

 The key note speaker for this year's kick-off is Former Pittsburgh Steelers great Rocky Bleier, who is also a Vietnam Veteran.
The festivities for Winterfest begin at 5:00 PM and include:

-Kids' Play Area
-Food Vendors
-Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus
-Musical Entertainment

The traditional lighting of more than five million lights on the Winterfest displays, followed by fireworks, will top off the evening.

Winterfest continues through Feb. 28, 2015.

Gatlinburg's 25th Annual Winter Magic Kickoff & Chili Cookoff

 Offering mouth-watering recipes of homemade chili ranging from mild and delightful to wild and adventurous, the City of Gatlinburg hosts its 25th annual Winter Magic Kickoff and Chili Cookoff on Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown.
 Winter is an exciting and magical time in Gatlinburg, as millions of LED lights are switched on throughout the beautiful resort city on Wednesday, November 12 at the 25th annual Gatlinburg Winter Magic Kickoff and Chili Cookoff.

Set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the downtown Parkway, the Chili Cookoff will feature area restaurants, attractions, civic groups, retailers, banks, and public service agencies serving thousands of cups of chili as each participating group competes for a variety of awards.

Those attending are encouraged to vote for their favorite chili. These votes will be tallied to award the coveted People’s Choice Award to the most popular chili. A panel of judges will cast their votes for other awards, including: Best Presentation, Best Chili Apron, and Best Chili.
Excitement will really heat up with the popular hot-chili eating contest during the event. Contestants will consume chili with increasing levels of heat as the competition progresses.

Gatlinburg 12th Annual Veterans Day Celebration



Join Gatlinburg in saluting America's veterans of the Armed Forces, featuring stirring musical numbers and words of tribute on Ripley's Aquarium Plaza.
The City of Gatlinburg will extend a heartfelt “Thank You!” to the men and women who put service before self at the Gatlinburg Veterans Day Celebration. The popular free-admission event on Tuesday, November 11 will be held on Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies at 11:00 am.


The 12th annual Gatlinburg Veterans Day Celebration will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 on Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies Plaza. Activities will include patriotic music, recognition of veterans in attendance, remembrance of fallen comrades, and stirring words from notable veterans.
Gatlinburg is an official Regional Site for the Observance of Veterans Day as designated by Veterans Day National Committee, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Time: Saturday, Sunrise - 4 p.m. & Sunday, Sunrise - 2 p.m. or 30 minutes before daylight, whichever comes first.

RULES and REGULATIONS
 


  • Single hook only; 1 hand-held rod; five (5) fish limit.
  • NO fishing on Friday, September 26th., 2014; NO fishing before / or after tournament hours on Saturday, September 27th. & Sunday, September 28th., 2014.
  • Trout only will be weighed; No dry fish will be weighed; Smallest trout must be 7 inches.
  • Participants may not fish with individuals not enteres in the tournament.
  • All trout must be at weigh-in located at Patriot Park, Pigeon Forge, traffic light #7 by 4 p.m. on Saturday & 2 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Tournament hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to 4:00 p.m. Saturday. and 30 minutes before sunrise to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Winners will be determined by total weight of the 2-day tournament.
  • All Gatlinburg and state regulations will be observed.
  • All participants will be subject to a polygraph test.
  • Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament officials reserve the right to disqualify any participant.
  • Participants must be present at weigh-ins to win.
  • Drawings for prizes will be held at each weigh-in.
  • Tournament badges are non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • Late registration for Fall Trout Tournament from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. at Rocky Top Outfitters on September 27th. & 28th., 2014.

11th Annual Old Mill Heritage Day

The 11th Annual Old Mill Heritage Day at The Old Mill Square in Pigeon Forge Tennessee, will be filled with music, food, fun and games for all ages, demonstrations, crafts, storytelling and best of all – tradition. Throughout the day you will be able to see firsthand what a "day in the life" of a Smoky Mountain pioneer was like. Crafts people will be on hand with demonstrations such as making lye soap, sorghum and apple butter along with cast iron cooking over open fires. Take a free guided tour of our 184 year old Historic Old Mill and see how antique engines and farm tractors were used. Bring Chairs and Blankets.

Gatlinburg's 17th Annual Taste of Autumn

 Gatlinburg swings into fall in the most delightful way as dining and dancing will highlight Gatlinburg’s Taste of Autumn on Tuesday, October 28 at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.


Gatlinburg’s 17th Annual Taste of Autumn takes center stage Tuesday, October 28, 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Attendees will enjoy unlimited sampling of the best foods and drinks to be found in the Smoky Mountains!
 

Traditionally, Taste of Autumn is an excellent opportunity to sample some outstanding food and beverage offerings, support the United Way of Sevier County, and have a great time doing it.
Tickets are $25 (children under 7 are free).  One hundred percent of the proceeds from Taste of Autumn benefit the United Way of Sevier County.

The United Way of Sevier County focuses on improving lives by involving our communities to create lasting change in community conditions. Beneficiaries of United Way funding include the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains and Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic
